Psychological Fees – From 01/01/2024
The Australian Psychological Society recommends an hourly rate for psychological services of $300 (2023-2024 financial year). Please find below our list of fees which are generally under the recommended rate.
Psychological Therapy Fees – Privately Funded

* Additional Charges
$20 additional for initial session;
$20 additional for a Weekday After Hours Appointment (Appointments before 9am and from 5pm on Weekdays);
$30 additional for Saturday appointments.
Please be aware that a $60.00 deposit is required to book your initial appointment. Your deposit is refundable should you choose to not proceed with your appointment, as long as the cancellation is received outside of the 2 business day cancellation window.

Neuropsychological and Educational & Developmental Assessment Fees
We conduct neuropsychological and cognitive assessments for a range of presenting issues including the following:
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Stroke
- Concussion
- Dementia
- Other neurological issues (Epilepsy, MS, tumours etc)
- ADHD
- Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Learning Disorders
- NDIS Assessments
- Decision making capacity
- Return to work
- Return to driving
- Fitness for Duty
- Insurance
Neuropsychological assessments will vary in terms of their length anywhere from 4 hours to 8 hours. The assessments are typically completed on one day, but for younger children or issues with fatigue, may be split up over more than one testing occasion (please discuss your needs with our administration team).
The assessments typically include the following components:
- Interview,
- Collateral Interview,
- Cognitive Testing,
- Questionnaires,
- Reading of background documents,
- Neuropsychological Report,
- and a feedback session.
The exact battery of tests selected is determined by your psychologist. If additional testing is required the psychologist will discuss this with you prior to this taking place.

Neuropsychological Therapy Fees
The costs for neuropsychological therapy follow the same price structure as for psychological therapy (see above).
This can be accessed either privately with Medicare or Private Health rebates, or through other funding bodies including WorkCover, NIISQ, BUPA Defence, Insurance Companies, and NDIS (plan and self managed).
Cancellation Fees
From 01/01/2024
Please provide more than 48 hours notice on business days* in order to avoid cancellation fees. If cancellation occurs within 2 business days of the appointment then a cancellation fee will apply. Note that cancellation fees may apply even for unavoidable sickness. A DNA is considered to have occurred if the client is late by more than 20 minutes to an appointment. Any relevant bank charges are also applied. Cancellation fees are as follows:
Psychological Therapy Cancellation Fees
Cancelled with less than 48 hours but more than 24 hours (on business days) = $60
Cancelled with less than 24 hours notice (on business days) = $115
DNA/No show = Full cost of session
Neuropsychological Assessment Cancellation Fees
Cancelled with less than 48 hours notice but more than 24 hours notice (on business days) = 1/4 the cost of the assessment component
Cancelled with less than 24 hours notice (on business days) = 1/2 the cost of the assessment component
DNA/No Show = Full price of the assessment component
A deposit of that equals the cost of the assessment component is taken at the time of booking.
NDIS Cancellation Fees (based on the NDIS schedule of fees)
If cancelled with less than 48 hours notice (and appointment cannot be filled) = The full fee for the session.
* 2 Business Days mean that if your appointment is on 2pm on Monday, you need to let us know before 2pm on Thursday of the proceeding week.
Medicare Rebates and Mental Health Treatment Plans
We are registered with Medicare and rebates are available for eligible clients. Individuals with a Mental Health Treatment Plan from their doctor are able to receive a rebate of $141.85 per session with a Clinical Psychologist, or $93.35 with a Generalist Psychologist or Neuropsychologist. Upon visiting your doctor or GP, they will make an assessment about whether you are eligible for such a plan, and may refer you to a psychologist. Eligible clients are entitled to up to:
- 10 individual sessions with a psychologist per calendar year; plus
- 10 group therapy sessions with a psychologist per calendar year.
You will need to have your Mental Health Treatment Plan before you come to the first session with your Psychologist in order for your rebate to be processed. And your Medicare rebate will be processed electronically at the end of your consultation.
What is the Difference Between a General Psychologist, Registrar, Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist?
General Psychologist
- Study: Has completed a minimum of 4 years university study in psychology
- Medicare Rebates: Will attract a Medicare Rebate of $96.65 per session with valid Mental Health Treatment Plan
- Registration : Is registered as a “General Psychologist” with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Clinical Psychologist – Registrar
- Study: Has completed a minimum of 6 – 8 years university study in clinical psychology, to the level of Masters, Doctorate or PhD in psychology
- Medicare Rebates: Will attract a Medicare Rebate of $96.65 per session with valid Mental Health Treatment Plan (Medicare does not provide a rebate for cognitive testing)
- Registration: Is registered as a “General Psychologist” with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) – as is completing a short period of supervised work to gain endorsement in clinical psychology – Clinical Psychology Registrar
Clinical Neuropsychologist – Registrar
- Study: Has completed a minimum of 6 – 8 years university study in neuropsychology, to the level of Masters, Doctorate or PhD in psychology
- Medicare Rebates: Will attract a Medicare Rebate of $96.65 per session with valid Mental Health Treatment Plan (Medicare does not provide a rebate for cognitive testing)
- Registration: Is registered as a “General Psychologist” with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) – as is completing a short period of supervised work to gain endorsement in clinical psychology – Clinical Neuropsychology Registrar
Clinical Psychologist
- Study: Has completed a minimum of 6 – 8 years university study in clinical psychology, to the level of Masters, Doctorate or PhD in psychology
- Medicare Rebates: Will attract a higher Medicare rebate of $141.85 per session with valid Mental Health Treatment Plan
- Registration: Is endorsed as a “General Psychologist” with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) – with Endorsement in “Clinical Psychology”
Clinical Neuropsychologist
- Study: Has completed a minimum of 6 – 8 years university study in neuropsychology, to the level of Masters, Doctorate or PhD in psychology
- Medicare Rebates: Will attract a Medicare Rebate of $96.65 per session with valid Mental Health Treatment Plan (Medicare does not provide a rebate for cognitive testing)
- Registration: Is endorsed as a “General Psychologist” with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) – with Endorsement in “Clinical Neuropsychology”
Some Psychologists can be Endorsed in more than one area – such as Clinical Neuropsychology & Clinical Psychology.

Private Health Insurance Rebates
If you have ‘extras’ private health insurance you may be eligible to claim rebates for psychological sessions. Each health insurance package is different and rebates depend on extras cover schemes which can change over time, therefore, we recommend that you check with your insurer about rebate amounts. Please note that the Item Number for an initial consultation with a Psychologist is 100, and subsequent consultation is 200.
A receipt will be given at the time of payment and you can submit this to your Health Insurance provider for your rebate.
Payment Methods
Individuals: Payment is made on the day of the appointment via EFTPOS or our Halaxy payment system with credit card details. We have a HICAPS terminal, and can process MEDICARE rebates in the office.
Organisations: An invoice will be issued and payment will be required within 7 days of the invoice via electronic bank transfer, credit card (over the phone), or cheque. Payment details will be provided on the invoice.
